NEW YORK, N.Y., USA: It was an evening of joy on Dec. 2 as family, friends and colleagues got together at the Andaz Hotel in Midtown Manhattan to help Bernie Weissman, president of Dentatus USA, celebrate his 90th birthday. “Many thanks to our friends attending and to the international dental community for the lifetime support I have received throughout my career,” said the man of the hour.
A veritable “who’s who” of distinguished guests gathered for drinks, food and special toasts. Among those paying tribute: Ake Parmalid, DDS, of Gothenburg, Sweden; Michael Crane of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; Dennis Tarnow, DDS, of Columbia University, New York City; Stuart Froum, DDS, of NYU School of Dentistry in New York City; and Claes Fellander and Thomas Skeppmark, chairman of the board and general manager, respectively, of Dentatus AB in Sweden.
Nita Weissman, Bernie’s daughter and president of Dentatus Implant Division, served as master of ceremonies. Nita and Bernie’s daughter Elaine Rene-Weissman, an architect from Malibu, Calif., presented a gift and a birthday cake.
With holiday cheer already in the air, attendees at the party were in good spirits — having just concluded yet another successful Greater New York Dental Meeting. This gathering was a fitting tribute to Bernie, whose lifelong dedication to the dental arts has influenced so many in their practices, businesses and careers.
